Legacy and Lineage and the Caretakers of Hula
Full workshop - $175
Monday August 5 - Saturday August 10, 2024
Led by Kumu Hula Maelia Loebenstein Carter and Kumu Hula Kawaikapuokalani Hewett, APDF presents a four-day workshop with hula lessons, a trip chronicling Kamehameha's journey from landing at Honolulu harbor and his pursuit of the forces of Kalanikupule to the current Pali lookout, talk story sessions with kupuna from throughout O‘ahu, film sessions in conjunction with the Hula Preservation Society and a field trip to Bishop Museum. The weekend culminates in a performance on the Kennedy Theatre stage on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
Don't miss this rare opportunity for a personal exploration into hula with themes covering legacy, lineages and the caretakers of hula.
The entire week package includes lunch, transportation if needed to the off-campus sites, admittance to Bishop Museum and all Talk Story sessions, and entrance to the performance on Saturday, August 10.
