Course Description

This course is for high school students only and requires an application. Students must be accepted into the course prior to payment.

Through gross anatomy laboratory demonstrations, clinical skills laboratories, computerized manikin simulations and standardized patient interactions, students will learn how to:

  • describe the epidemiology, signs and symptoms, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses common in Hawai`i;
  • perform basic clinical skills such as measuring vital signs and listening to the heart and lungs with stethoscopes; and
  • interview and counsel patients.

The Medical Diagnosis and Treatment program is part of UH Manoa Outreach College's Summer Programs.
