Course Description

Course participants will develop everyday conversational skills, including an introduction to proper pronunciation, grammar, and basic vocabulary in the Introductory (Level 1) course. Classes include language study through, e.g., demonstrations of Chinese culture, video clips, and peer conversation practice.

The course follow units 1-3 of the textbook Encounters - Chinese Language and Culture, Book 1, by Cynthia Y. Ning ( UHM) & John S. Montanaro (Yale University), A Yale CIPG Program, Yale University Press, 2012.

Textbook not included with course fee.

Notes

You must be at least 16 years old on the first day of instruction in order to enroll in this course.
